About
Astrid Vanhuyse is a French industrial designer based in London. She works across disciplines including product, furniture, innovation, experience and sustainability. Her approach is driven by the search for meaning and simplicity aiming to design thoughtful and responsible solutions.
Astrid Vanhuyse completed an MA in industrial design at ISD Rubika design school in France. She worked as Marc Berthier’s design assistant at Eliumstudio in Paris before joining Nendo in Tokyo. In London she worked for several agencies, then as an independent designer. She designed award-winning products and collaborated with major brands and emerging start-ups. She created Necessary Project, a platform to explore the positive impact of design and to promote good/sustainable projects.
In 2022, she established the design studio Akasaki Vanhuyse with Japanese architect Kenta Akasaki. Merging perspectives, they collaborate on a variety of projects including space, furniture, product, innovation and research.
